2017 was a year filled with new cell phone technology. The iPhone X, Face ID, and Google Pixel AR stickers, just to name a few. Along with these technologies came iPhone and Android apps people immediately fell in love with. Here’s our list of the top 2017 free cellular apps.

1. FaceApp

FaceApp is a new iPhone and Android app people can’t stop talking about! With it, you can change your appearance and even your gender. Want to look older or younger? FaceApp can do it. Want to make yourself smile? FaceApp can do it. Want to see what you look like as a woman or man? FaceApp can do it. For those times when you are bored, you can use the celebs image search and use the app on your favorite celebrities. It’s truly amazing how well this app works. Major technology publications are raving about this new app including Tech Crunch, The Verge, and Digital Trends.  


2. HQ Trivia

iPhone users can’t get enough HQ Trivia. Thankfully, Android users won’t have to wait long to play this game. Currently, it is in beta mode in Canada and releases to all Android users on January 1st. HQ Trivia is a live trivia game show app that enables users to answer questions for a chance at cash prizes. Yes, you heard that right, cash! This new app people are obsessing over was created by Rus Yusupov and Colin Kroll.


3. Messenger Lite

This past year, Facebook came out with another version of their messenger app, Messenger Lite. This free cellular app is supposed to do what the Messenger app can, but take up less phone MB space and use less mobile data. You can contact people on Messenger and Facebook, send photos and videos, call over Wi-Fi, and much more without slowing your phone down. This app is only available on Android devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

4. Datally

This is an amazing Android mobile data app created by Google. Datally can be used to know how much mobile data you’re using and specific app data usage. With that information, you can set a data usage limit per app. In addition to keeping track of and limiting mobile data usage, the app also provides you with the best Wi-Fi signals in your area, rated by people who have used them. This app is highly useful for those who don’t want to be charged for data overages.


5. Pocket

Ever stumbled upon great articles online and then later forgot where you found them? Well, Pocket app solves this problem. With this app, you can save articles you find that you want to read or refer to later on. The articles can be saved from your web browser, email, and the 1,500 participating apps including Twitter and Flipboard. This app is simple, easy to use, and convenient. Plus, you can use it on most iOS or Android phones, tablets, and computers.
